    Default Firearm Transfer Reminder

This is a reminder that all handgun transfers within PA must go through a FFL or county sheriff unless the buyer and seller are related as spouses, parent/child, or grandparent/grandchild.

Any handgun transfers to another state - the handgun must be transferred through a FFL in the buyer's home state.

Any long gun transfers to another state - the long gun(rifle or shotgun) must be transferred at a FFL in any state.

For the two interstate issues mention above, not only does federal laws need compliance, but also both state laws require compliance. That means if a gun is illegal in the buyer's home state, he cannot buy the gun elsewhere and take it back to that state.
