Suppressing my Glock with a barrel conversion
Hello all you knowledgeable NFA Gurus. With this coming up "economic stimulus" check good old Uncle Sam is going to be sending out soon, I've elected to get my first suppressor. Initially i was going to get one for my .223 and .22lr rifles, but have elected to go with one for my Glock first.
I'm currently using my Glock23 (.40s&w) with a LWD 9mm conversion barrel. There have been a few guys on GlockTalk testing the concept that you don't even need a conversion barrel to shoot 9, you can just get a Glock 19 barrel and drop it in. But that's another issue all together...
(space reserved for link to discussion if anyone is interested)
Anyhow, I'm looking at the 9mm suppressors to be attached to an extended/threaded LWD 9mm conversion barrel, but before I order, is there a certain threading I should be looking for, for a 9mm suppressor?
Also, is there a certain brand of 9mm suppressor that out ranks the competition? I've been leaning towards a SWR Shadow9, but wasn't sure what others are available that match or beat it's quality/price.
My concerns are that I'll have to unscrew it when I convert back and forth from 40-9, so I cant really use a quick disconnect system. Is there any concerns to doing this, other than the chance I may not snug it down well enough prior to shooting?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.Zone1

Re: Suppressing my Glock with a barrel conversion
To my knowledge 1/2 x 28 is the most popular threading for 9mm pistols. You are not limited to that though. You can use whatever threading you want that the suppressor is made in.
There are a few good 9mm suppressors out there but from all the reviews I have read the AAC Evo 9 is one of the most popular and best working. That is why I bought one. It is a great can. Nice and quiet.

Re: Suppressing my Glock with a barrel conversion
The SWR Trident is THE best 9mm can on the market today. It can be used on any 9mm rifle or pistol with the simple change of the attachment method. It has a lifetime guarantee and the CS of SWR is outstanding...

Re: Suppressing my Glock with a barrel conversion
I use a LWD threaded 1/2x28 on my g19. the poster above is correct, the swr trident 9 is a very quiet can. it is much more quiet than my gemtech trinity.

Re: Suppressing my Glock with a barrel conversion
1/2x28 as note above is the common US threading and what you will find for the glock. There is also 13.5mmx1mm whcih is used on the sigs and HKs.
I personally own a SWR Trident and I gotta say it's sweet! Quiet and versitale which is what I was looking for. It's a subgun can that works great on pistols, how can you go wrong? I have a friend who has an EVO 9 and he likes it. I have one AAC can and it's good, does it's job. I also have 2 SWR cans and I'm in love with their products. Food for thought.

Great videos!!!
I can hear that you have the same situation as I do with the MP5. Muzzle blast is gone but the action noise is loud as hell......

Re: Suppressing my Glock with a barrel conversion
Wow, thanks everyone for the input. I'll do some more reading on the Trident before making my decision.
The plan as it stands is to get a LWD extended 40-9 conversion barrel threaded to fit the suppressor I end up with. Time to reread the sticky by JayBell and start my purchase process.
Thanks again everyone.Zone1
