PU Scope (Mosin)

I got a surplus mosin sniper, and I'm just curious as to how I should go about cleaning the scope, or even maybe if I shouldn't. Here's some pictures I took.

Preservative.

Leave it alone.

Warm the scope up to 200* it will soften the grease/preservative. Put in a NON leaking plastic bag, wrap tight to keep out air, and sumberge is HOT water for 10 minutes the wipe off.

Hair dryer or heat gun on low will also work just don't burn hand or overheat scope and drop it.

Any hard parts remaining, wipe with a light machine oil like 3-n-1 and let soak-soften then wipe off.

If dials are hard to turn heat them and turn dials thru a full cycle. If they get hard after cooling down, reheat again. If they still get hard the grease which is high viscous (thickened) oil has dried out and nothing short of a repair will fix it.

Cleaning is no problem...butT don't use any type of penetration oil as they can creep past 'o' rings and get inside. Under recoil they can fly backward coating lenses.
