Default CT Gov calls for Confiscation

But they keep telling us they aren't coming for our guns!

    From his press release:

I have been clear for weeks that a ban on the possession and sale of high capacity magazines is an important part of our effort to prevent gun violence – simply banning their sale moving forward would not be an effective solution

Explain the thought process that equates "a ban on the possession" to "confiscation".

Controlled substances are illegal to own, yet I've never heard of any attempt at going door to door to "confiscate" them.

    Misleading thread title is misleading.

A very high percentage of firearm owners are law abiding folks.

If a ban on possession was in fact law, it might as well be a confiscation.

Australia and Canada----authorities in both countries never had a mass confiscation of firearms when most were banned......but..... if they get "any hint" of a firearm in a home, one can expect a home visit and search and then seizure.

It would be the same way here if it ever came to that. Ban possession...turn-in....... and you guess the rest.

That is the reason to prevent the ban in the first place.

Seriously? If they are illegal to own, and they find them, what do they do? Give them back? No, they confiscate them. Just like controlled substances.

No where did I say they are going door-to-door. Of course, since CT has a registry of scary looking weapons, what do you think they are going to do? If they had a registry of Sudafed, and banned it, do you think they wouldn't use it?

Thread title is spot on, buddy.

There is a registry of Sudafed. Have you tried to buy it OTC recently? Many stores are requiring to swipe your DL to buy it. There was at least one "prepper" that had their home raided because under the government's eyes they purchased too much in a short period of time.

I clicked the link thinking that maybe I may have missed something.

Nope. No call for confiscation at all.

Yep, you missed something. Like my explanation. Words mean things, and you don't understand them.

Its a call for confiscation, just worded so people would miss it.

Hey, I'm all about letting people know what's going on, but when you twist words into something they are not, don't expect that someone isn't going to point it out.

    Have fun with it.

Since you have not actually addressed my points, I'm going to assume you are just trolling.

    Good bye.

Seriously, why do people have to derail threads?

I would call a BAN on something which makes it legally unusable, a de facto confiscation. If you can't legally posses something, even in your home, you risk losing everything if you are caught with it. If you keep it and use it in a self defense situation, you will go to jail. If your home is searched for whatever reason, you risk going to jail.
