Default Miami gun buyback nets 24 guns (and they are touting it as a victory!)

The Miami Beach Police Department declared the city's first ever gun buyback held at the convention center Saturday a success with more than two dozens firearms turned in to authorities.

"As you can see on the table we have four shotguns and a number of semi-automatic pistols, as well as revolvers," Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez said. "Those are the type of weapons that we are encountering on the streets here."

"Anything we can do to take a weapon off the street is one less potential disaster," Commissioner Jerry Libbin said.

I wonder how much it cost them to rent the space for the convention center vs how many firearms were returned.

But remember, if just one of those guns being turned in saved a life it's all worth it

So you collected a couple of firearms that may have been old, obsolete, or in-operative.

So you collected a couple of firearms from some senior citizens who have had them stored away and nobody knew they had them.

So you collected a couple firearms from some liberals that have been touting "Gun Control" but were actual gun owners themselves.

So you collected a couple firearms from law abiding citizens that were no risk to anybody.

By the way, did you collect any from any known criminals that would/have used those firearms in a crime?

And to run this high tech sting operation to collect this mighty stash you paid how many police/public officials overtime and rented this convention center that all were paid for by the locals taxes (doughnuts provided by the police - of course!).

    Just checking.

    Thanks.

    God bless!!

I like how in the video they say one of the criticism of gun buy backs is that they don't make a real difference, the officer acknowledges this, then says it's worth the effort anyway.

I guess because it "feels good".

By the "if it saves just one life it's worth it reasoning" we should all be forced to lock ourselves into padded rooms and sit there doing absolutely nothing. After all......if it save just one life............

Yeah it's idiotic logic no matter how we look at it.

Twenty guns in three hours? Pathetic in a city like miami beach. The news show at least six different police, I'm sure on OT, so that's at least another $200 per gun in pay & benefits.
The really sad thing it they have a steel safety can there to be sure every firearm is unloaded. You would think with their 'great firearms training' (remember, they are special and can have guns that you aren't allowed to own) the officers on staff should know how to clear a weapon and verify it is safe...
