Looking for new truck gun/conceal carry gun
I am casually looking into a new carry gun for my truck, and occasional carry gun.
Right now im looking at either getting a Ruger LCR .357, Glock 26, Springfield XDS in .45 or another S&W Shield in 9MM ( have one in .40 that is in my nightstand)
I know how Glocks are, have 3, but prefer a safety of some sort as I leave one in the pipe, and with going in and out of center console occasionally, dont want an accidental misfire etc, so glock is last on list.
Pretty much looking the hardest at the LCR.
Any insight on recoil and how they hold up to full magnum loads for the .357 version?
They are a little light of a gun ( but I do have monster hands) so wondering on the snap factor on them.
Considered a S&W 649 as well, ( I happen to be a die hard smith fan) but cant get myself to let a 6-700 dollar gun get banged up in my console.
Also anyone see a LCR .357 around the lehigh valley/eastern pa area?
I know of one with crimson trace grips, but those dont really do it for me.
I really like the XDS as well, but that gun seems to be as hot as the Shield, dont really want to wait another 6 months for one.Last edited by savagemod11; March 31st, 2013 at 01:12 AM.

Re: Looking for new truck gun/conceal carry gun
It has some recoil, and being snappy is an understatement. Not a gun I'd want to have to get into a speed shooting contest with.

I don't see how the Glock will go off any easier than the LCR would, other than a heavier trigger pull on the LCR. Since you don't grab your trigger when you remove it from something, I'd not let that be my determining factor. Buy what you want, it's just not a reason with merit, IMO.BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Since you are looking at revolvers I assume that you don't mind Double Action Only (DAO), so I recommend what I carry daily, the Kel-Tec P11, I think of it as having an 11 round 9mm DAO revolver , it's true, DAO with second strike capability just like a revolver...
Same capacity as the G26 and over 7 oz's lighter in a smaller package...
Twice the capacity of the LCR, over 3 oz's lighter... similar package...
... factory and aftermarket http://www.keepshooting.com/kel-tec-...zine-15rd.html higher capacity magazines, fiber optic sights and a .22 conversion http://www.twistedindustries.net/products/ are available and it can be had for under $300 otd.
Here's a pic of mine with my summer pocket carry LCP for comparison...

You might not like the XDs. I could see the same concerns that you have with the Glock

Re: Looking for new truck gun/conceal carry gun
I might buy that for a conversation piece...thats a heck of a revolver!!! The size and weight are NOT a sales point to me, as its a primarily console gun, but I do carry in certain situations, so it would end up in a IWB holster at some point. That LCR does look like it has a nice bit of recoil, which I dont know if it would be too good for self defense as it will have too much muzzle rise to gain quick target lock again, Ive heard that the XDS is a snappy guy too...looks like Ill have to call around and see who has one I can shoot.

Why are your choices all very small guns; if you are to keep it in your truck why not go with something a little bigger? How about a Glock in 40, 45, or 357?
