I think they are going for extra mass to make up for less strength of material. Like how it is a lot harder to bend 1" diameter steel than 1/4" diameter steel.

Though I'd expect the barrel to erode and affect accuracy fairly soon.

I didn't look it up before making my comment, but that was the first thing I thought of. It is obviously not meant for long term use, so it would be the gun to have so you can get a better gun.

There are reproductions of the original Liberator being made. So if you want one you don't have to go to a show, auction and etc to get an original.
