Mayor's Against Begging for Action
My notes in bold and italics. We need to beat them at their own game. Don't stop calling and writing now. Please take the time to do it and cancel out their calls.
Dear Bob,
The U.S. Senate is in danger of losing their nerve and bowing to pressure from the NRA. They need to hear from you before it’s too late!
Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Reid said several key measures to prevent gun violence were in jeopardy because not enough Senators have come forward in support. Even though 57% of Americans want to get assault weapons and high-capacity magazines off our streets -- Reid said that the measure had no more than 40 votes. And despite an overwhelming 92% of Americans who want background checks for all gun sales -- Reid said this crucial measure might be sidelined as well.2
That’s why Mayors Against Illegal Guns is organizing a National Day to Demand Action on Thursday, March 28th, when Senators will be at home for Easter/Passover Recess.
RSVP to join the National Day to Demand Action -- pledge to call your Senators on March 28 and help shut down their phone lines.
Your members of Congress are heading back home for recess and will be making up their minds on how they’ll vote come April. That’s why we are kicking off the largest on-the-ground organizing campaign in the history of gun violence prevention.
In the days ahead, you’ll be receiving email invitations to attend events near you or to make calls to your Senator’s home district offices.
Your Senators need to hear from you before they vote on gun reform.
There’s no question about it. Your community will be talking about guns. Please join the National Day to Demand Action and make sure your elected officials support laws that will save lives:

Thank you for taking action at this crucial moment!

If he can only find 40 votes, I tend to think the 57% might be inflated. Is it possible the media might be making things up?Brian - US Navy Retired - If you aren't having fun doing it, find something else to do.

Ask a person "Do you want to ban 'assault weapons'.
Many would support such a ban. The term on its face implies violence and ill intent. Who wants to go around assaulting other people?
Ask the same person, "Do you want to ban Modern Sporting Arms, which are used in less than one percent of all violent crime?"
Who in their right mind would want to ban a class of firearms which are often hard to conceal, expensive, loud, but which give great quick second and third shots on game preventing it from running away?
Think you'll get the same levels of support for a ban in both cases?
The US Media is infamous for leaving out important details. They get away with it because they are owned by Corporations who are indifferent to the effects of the lies and bias, run by left wing ideologues who have multiple axes to grind and their product is consumed by low information types who lack the time or energy to dig up the facts.

Re: Mayor's Against Begging for Action
Bob is right on. The removal of the "assault weapons" & "high capacity mag" from the bill is an attempt to calm us while they mount their charge. This is a Trojan Horse. It is important to call all Reps & Senators even if you have already done so. Tell them you know the strategy of the opposition and that you will support them if they support us. Inform them what's going to occur on March 28. We will be successful if we keep up the good work.

That's our cue. Lets all make it a point to call our Senators on March 28th (among other days) to let them know that any chopping and dismantling the Constitution is not okay.
