Default LTCF needed on public transportation?

I've been having a discussion with a friend and he insists you don't need a LTCF aboard public transportation such as a city bus or taxi. I've looked in 6106(b) and can not find an exception there.

    Anyone know of one?

You need one on a riding lawn mower or a horse or a bicycle for heaven's sake.

It doesn't matter if the cab, bus, or train is yours or someone elses, you need an LTCF in or on a vehicle.

I would not wager my future on successfully arguing that a bus, taxi, or train is not a "vehicle".

Yup, since it was made clear to me that I'd need one even for my go-kart.

6106. (a) (1) ... any person who carries a firearm IN ANY VEHICLE or ...

While there are exceptions that include distinct reasons, there are no exceptions for types of vehicles.

Thanks every one I did not think his info was correct, but I thought I'd check here also.

There are several types of trips which are their own exception to § 6106, so no license is required, but for none of them is it an accurate statement that "you don't need a LTCF aboard public transportation." Public transportation has nothing to do with it.

Just a minor point - The definition for s.6106's 'vehicle' is given in:

    1 Pa CS 1991

"Vehicle." A conveyance in or on which persons or property may be carried.
The s.501 definitions are for chapter 5 (Justifications) only.
