You are in no way shape or form permitted to have weapons on State DOC property. Even knives are prohibited.

I believe he was saying this regarding my not being comfortable leaving my firearm & ammo unattended in my vehicle.

It sucks but your only options other than leaving it at home is either find someone close to hold it or rent a safety deposit box for the day.

Why? Are corrections employees unable or unwilling to follow their work rules?

If you're willing to go three miles out of your way I'll hold it for you.

I regularly visit a friend in State College driving in from Wilkes-Barre. On rt 99 the signs state you are entering SCI Rockview property. I often worry about the same thing in this case. Anyone have any idea about this?

As long as you remain on the PennDOT easement, you're okay, just don't stop to take pictures or anything.

My understanding of the LAW is that they can not restrict it on their property.
The Commonwealth states your firearm can not be carried into the cells/holding areas or adjoining room or hallways.

    Read the law.
Tell them you are bring your firearm, ask if they want it left is a car that is easily broken into - in an area with a lot of known shitbags - or if they want to secure it for you until you are ready to leave.

Does anyone have a citation of statute, regulation or even formal DOC policy that prohibits a weapon in a vehicle which is traversing on a road or parked in a public use parking lot of unenclosed DOC property?

18 Pa CS 5122 would prohibit introduction of a weapon 'within' a 'detention facility' but, as best I can determine, the 'facility' refers to a structure and enclosed areas but not the open grounds thereof.

I can see that possibly not going well. To walk around from the mall using roads is a few miles.

Please don't go strolling around the rear of the prison... I don't feel like dealing with the headache while I'm up in the tower.
