LTCF Revocation Philadelphia

Hi all,

I've gotten my firearm stolen from my vehicle. I have already reported it to Philadelphia Law Enforcement because it has taken place on Philadelphia grounds, and I know for sure I can expect a letter saying that my Philadelphia LTCF will be revoked. Some questions that I have is

1. How do I go about appealing this manner?
2. Do you recommend a lawyer?
3. What are the chances of me having my permit re-instated?
4. What is the complete process? (Lawyer will do this, you have to reapply, etc.)
5. What are the costs associated with hiring a lawyer?
6. What are some lawyers that are recommended to handle this manner?
7. Will this impact me purchasing a firearm in the future because I have a stolen gun in my record?
8. What are my chances of having my LTCF re-instated If I represent my self rather than hiring a lawyer?
9. Will I have to show up to the appealing court along with my lawyer?
10. Please tell me anything else I need to know along with some experiences with anyone else who has been through this type of situation.

My only advise, if your ltcf is revoked contact a lawyer well versed in gun laws.

Just a little disclaimer: It is a Pa. ltcf not a Philly ltcf.

Yes. It should (must, really, for the best chance of success) be one well-versed in firearms laws and Philadelphia's particular brand of stupidity. There are other lawyers out there, but our very own GunLawyer001 is well-respected on the forum. If he can't help you, he can probably point you at someone who can.

Based on a case that I just handled, the Commonwealth Court has ruled that you have additional protections in an issued LTCF, so make sure you speak with an attorney that is competent and aware. Philadelphia is always fun to deal with in these matters. Also, depending on the outcome, make sure you have an attorney that handles 1983 actions, so that you can file a civil rights deprivation action when you get your license back (assuming it is revoked).

Ohhhhhh.... That being said, how can they revoke your LTCF for something beyond your control. Maybe you visited some place that didn't allow carry.

Because Philly will attempt to revoke him by saying he is irresponsible for leaving a firearm in a vehicle unattended. They love to criminalize victims here.

Thank you all for comments and concern. I spoke with a lawyer and he says based on his experience some of his clients weren't even issues a revocation. I guess I will have to wait and see if the letter does come in or not. Will the fact that I had my firearm stolen out my vehicle be a problem when I go to make a firearm purchase in the future? Will they deny me? The impression I got from both Philadelphia cops and detectives was that I'm the criminal here for leaving it in the vehicle.

If your firearm is stolen and someone uses it to commit a crime you would be held liable. Do you still believe that I should not have reported it?
