Re: How to fix congress...
This sounds plausible if they add term limits.
And mandatory audits by the fed on ALL politicians for previous 5 years in office and concurrent years while IN office and 5 years AFTER they held office. This would include all election campaign finance committees.
Cut the terms and cut the corruption out of government.Derrion Albert was my Hero.

I prefer Al Qaeda's original plan and hope they give it another go.
But this may be the one political idea of Buffet's that I could get behind.Last edited by ungawa; March 15th, 2013 at 08:10 AM.

Re: How to fix congress...
1) Fire all of them and re-hire some folks
2) Put term limits in place
3) Have yearly objectives
4) Place low performing Congressmen on performance improvement plans
You know...kinda like how the private sector only rewards hard workers...just saying...
5) Anyone found not upholding the oath of the Constitution will be removed from office without lifetime pay regardless if they just served one term.

Re: How to fix congress...
*shrug* What Buffett didn't tell you is that he has a "Cure" for the Deficit too. Raise taxes on people like him.
If the IRS would collect all of those back taxes from Berkshire Hathaway, some going back to the start of Bush Jr Term 1, Buffett probably wouldn't be very eager to raise taxes. Instead he pretends to pay while expecting the rest of us to pay our "fair share".

Re: How to fix congress...
There is no simple answer to the "problem" of Congress. I will suggest that people get up off of their behinds and get involved in the "political process".
I know that the Liberals "Get involved". They knock on doors. They send money. They make phone calls.
One in four Americans considers themself a "Liberal" or "Progressive". They are not a majority. This is why they meltdown when elections "don't go their way". They don't believe in Democracy. They believe in power. The power to "effect Progressive Change".
These people deliver the goods on election day. They believe. They do.
If even a third of gun owners walked the streets, worked the phones and gave money Diane Feinstein's ban on Modern Sporting Guns would get as far as John Chafee's proposed ban on handguns.
The Elites and others who push "Gun Control" would "back off". They're business people. They don't want to antagonize their customers. As long as we "put up with it" they will keep on supporting Corporate think tanks and "Foundations" that "sponsor responsible gun measures".

Re: How to fix congress...
Go a step beyond term limits and get all ancient Greece old school on these fools. Return of the black ball.
Allow any Senator / Representative to "call the ball" or black ball vote on any other Senator / Representative. If just one black ball is cast in the voting box that person will be removed from office and exiled from the country for five years.
I also propose going back to the original intent regarding who is allowed to vote in elections. If an individual is receiving direct support from the Government, they forfeit their right to vote. This will prevent the "tryanny of the majority" from voting money out of the pockets of earners into the pockets of takers. Note, our system was originally set up this way! It was changed by "Progressives."Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

I prefer this method of fixing.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.
