Custom .45

Ok so I have some cash coming my way and would like to pick up a nice 1911. I have spoken about this before but don't remember all the discussion. I was thinking Night Hawk ,Rock River,Springfield ,Wilson Combat ,Les Baer ,Ed Brown. I would like any input from anyone with any experience with any of these or any suggestions of any that I may have skipped. I contacted Rock River and was told at least 6 to 7 months. Night Hawk was slightly less with more custom features

Les Baer.

I've shot the rest and although the Les Baer won't run with powder puff loads, it will run with everything else and shoot tighter.

I won't talk trash on the custom makers, but there is one on that list with poor customer service.

Or...have a GOOD smith build you one.

My vote is for a Springfield Professional. I have a Springfield Loaded which I had their custom shop bring it up to Pro specs (and then some) and the quality, fit, feel accuracy, reliability and lifetime warranty make this 1911 hard to beat, IMHO.

I have a Nighthawk T3 and naturally I love it. I have no experience with any of the other custom 1911 makes so this is just my opinion on one gun and one company. Their customer service is impecable and so is their gunsmiting. I have about 700 rounds through this gun so far, with no malfunctions or problems of any sort. It is very easy to carry but so is any pistol of this size. I believe the bottom line is that regardless of who you decide to with, you will be happy with your decision. From what I have read all of these makers have their stuff together and are sending out great guns.

I have a Spfld. Armoury .38 Super with a Wilson full blown custom job. It is probably 5-7,000 rds in to its life and has performed flawlessly. Quality does not cost it pays.

I'm leaning towards ordering an RRA 1911 as a next gun. Is that the one on the list you refer to?

Either way I'll check out Les' offerings.

Of the semi-custom manufacturers, Wilson Combat is turning out some very good quality product these days.

If you want a reliable 1911 with old world craftsmanship buy a new manufacture Colt Series 70 and send it to Bob Rodgers or John Jardine. You'll end up with a pistol you can stake your life on and it will become an heirloom.
