What can you guys tell me about the Ithaca 37?
I'm considering making a trade for an Ithaca mdl 37. I have never owned an Ithaca but have heard the name over the years. Did some research and found some helpful info but nothing beats the horses mouth so to speak. Anything I should know before hand???

They are a great gun, I've hunted with one since I was about 16.. light, handy and reliable and eject empty shells out the bottom (not into your line of sight). I've currently own 2 in 12 gauge with the 2nd one being reblued as I'm giving it to my nephew. Depending on what your trading I'd go for it. But then again, I'm a big fan of Ithaca shotguns.

I used a 20 g. for deer when I lived in Ohio. I never had a problem and it was accurate with the rifled barrel. I had 12 g. but that 20 was a great deer gun.

My uncle gave me his as my first shotgun the day I graduated high school.
Great gun, especially for left handers.

Ithaca Model 37 is a great gun. I liked mine so much for duck hunting that I bought a nice Deer Slayer. Great gun and has never failed me. They have quite a faithful following.

Re: What can you guys tell me about the Ithaca 37?
IMO the best pump action shotgun made. It is another JM Browning design. I own 6. I mainly use them for wingshooting and I have a couple deerslayers for slug gun hunting. The slug guns are known for their accuarcy because the barrels are threaded onto the reciever. They aren't slot fit like the 870 and 500.
What is it that you are trading for?

Re: What can you guys tell me about the Ithaca 37?
I had one for the longest time (I loved it during this time, even called it the clay bird slayer), probably shot somewhere around 80,000 rounds through it before the extractor prongs wore out and fired a round in my magazine tube. Luckily no one was hurt when it happened. Traded it in on a Benielli Nova and never looked back.
