    Default New to Berks county.

Used to 8-1000 yard range from where I used to live. In Douglassville now.

You all know of any rifle ranges near Berks county? If so what are the yard distances for the range you suggest?

    Thanks in advance.

    New Holland has 600yds
Mifflin County Spotsmens (2 hrs) has a 500 and 1,000 yd range - $50/year to be a member

    Thanks.

Anyone else know of any near by spots?

I just found out I can shoot on my own land if I want to. So I just have to talk with my neighbors and get the green light, and then It's time to make some things go bang

Just checked out New Hollands web site. Has anyone shot over there? What's the scoop?

Do I have to be a member? The dues seem pretty steep.

    Any info would be appreciated.

The dues are steep however the club is worth it. Well run and maintained.
You can shoot as a guest for $5.00 per visit with a member.
    Events are open to public.
I think the dues was $125.00 per year. An initiation fee of 250.00 (payable over time I think) and a minimal work requirement of either 4 mtgs and 2 workdays OR 3 workdays.
Probation period until you complete requirements. The workdays are just cleaning up and fixing target backers. If you are willing there is also construction and clearing that can be done.
This is not a club for someone who just sites their deer rifle in once a year, however all types of shooters are welcome.
There is steel on all rifle ranges and the lower pistol ranges. It is said they will go 1000yds when they can purchase the land. Thats the reason for the land and initiation fees. Membership will be capped at some point to 1000.

Thanks Matt. I guess the next thing I need to do is latch onto a member so I can visit the range.

I wonder if I could wait outside the gate and beg the first member that passes to let me tag along with them

I am always willing to help someone out, as long as that person agrees to follow all common sense safety rules.
I am a fair weather shooter and work weird shifts. Might be a couple week before I have time off. PM me if you want to try to set something up for end of March begin April.

New Holland has the distance, and I've heard rave reviews. I have not been there, but have a buddy who only gets out there several times a year yet maintains a yearly membership because the facilities are so nice.

Northern Chester County Sportsmans club is not too crazy far from you, max 150 yds

    $100 & NRA member to join, $ 50

Worse comes to worse SGL 43 isnt too far a drive down 345 either, if you don't mind the SGL scene to pop off a few rounds, till you build your personal range

Just learned about SGL from my neighbor that's a gun smith down the street from me.

    Thanks guys.
