In case you had any doubt about where the Philly paper stands on our rights. Out of the "200 sportsmen and firearms owners" in attendance I can't believe every single one was wearing at least one of these articles of clothing "NRA caps, camouflage jackets and Revolutionary War uniforms".

Pro-gun activists rally in Capitol

INQUIRER HARRISBURG BUREAU
HARRISBURG - Pro-gun activists, gathered in the Capitol today to celebrate victory over a gun-control bill in the state House last week, pledged to block any future attempts at "gun grabbing" legislation.

Dressed in NRA caps, camouflage jackets and Revolutionary War uniforms, about 200 sportsmen and firearms owners cheered such speakers as Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R., Butler), who assailed Gov. Rendell and his "gun-confiscating conspirators." Metcalfe urged participants to fire lawmakers who supported gun-control measures.

Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes, the featured speaker, took aim at gun-control advocates for saying they "defend life."

"You cannot defend life," Keyes said, "if you give up your means of defense."

The rally came six days after a proposal to require mandatory reporting of lost and stolen handguns was defeated by House lawmakers 75-128.

Twenty Republicans and all of the Democrats from Southeastern Pennsylvania supported the legislation.

Rendell's press secretary, Chuck Ardo, called Metcalfe's comments about the governor untrue.

"Gov. Rendell has not taken a single step toward confiscating guns and has absolutely no plans to do so," he said.

The rally ended with a raffle of a Smith and Wesson handgun.

"This is the only legimate 'one gun' we're interested in," Metcalfe said.

Joe Grace, executive director of the gun-control organization CeasefirePA, said the raffle was insensitive to victims of handgun violence.

The House is expected to vote today on the original bill that had contained the "lost and stolen" language. The bill would increase penalities for possessing a weapon with a serial number that has been obscured or erased. It also includes penalties for falsely reporting weapons lost or stolen.
