    Default Pull to Right?

I consistently pull to the right about 2" when target shooting with my Ruger M77 Mk II. Any tips on correcting this?

    Thanks!

I have the same problem , I think it has to do with the the way I am squeezing the trigger , I don't use the tip of my finger, I tend to put my finger at about the first joint from the end on the trigger and when I squeeze it pulls to the right .. see if that helps.

I have seen a picture of a target somewhere that shows if you are pulling your shots in a certain direction what needs to be done to correct it. I'll try to look it up and post it.

It's not too big but I'm sure you could use windows to resize it.

I don't own any Ruger rifles, but I've heard they can have bad, non-adjustable triggers. You might want to look for an aftermarket trigger. Shooting bad rifle triggers sucks.

the ruger triggers can be made better or swapped out for better ones. Read around. I am pretty sure the OP is shooting a mk2 pistol also. Some cheap trigger jobs for that also.

The target posted is for pistol shooting...not sure if it applies to a rifle....I'm going to say much of it would not.

Concentrate on the trigger pull...are you jerking it?

What optic (if any) are you using?

Has someone else shot it to rule out the rifle?

What distance are we taking here?

It's a m77 mkII in .22-250 with a Bushnell Elite 4200 (6-24x50). Trigger pull is something that I have practiced some, but not extensively on this rifle. However, the trigger is an aftermarket (not sure make) and has to be no more than 3lbs, very smooth, with little travel.

This rifle was purchased used about 3 years ago by my Dad. He has never shot it and whoever the previous owner was did not shoot it enough to put any wear on it. It is threaded for a can, but I have not shot with it attached.

Distances are 100 yds, where I get about a 3" pull to the right. 50 yds produces a 1 1/2 to 2" pull to the right.

I initially thought that the rifle may have been the problem, but I tend to believe it's my own fault, as I will often pull my 30-06 to the right similarly.

Otherwise, it's a very nice shooting rifle.

Do you mean that you pull to the right when standing? Sitting? Prone? Have you zeroed it from a rest first? Do you change your cheek weld in different positions?

If the rifle is sighted OK then maybe you are anticipating the shot or jerking the trigger.
