shipping an "assault weapon" to NY state FFL to FFL?
I sold one of my ARs on gunbroker but the winning bidder in from NY, can ARs still be sold in NY? I would just ask the FFL I normally use to ship firearms but hes off for a little while. I just want to know if I have to tell this guy I cant sell it to him.

i think assault weapons with more than 1 'feature' were banned at the time the law was passed. magazines are like april or something, and ammo background checks are next year.
I think the answer is NO, but i am not a doctor. IANAD.

You could check with a NY gun dealer to make sure but as far as I know, only AWs that were ordered before Jan 15 2013 can be delivered to a NY resident. NY now defines an AW as a semi-auto with a detachable mag and one evil feature. Pistol grip, flash hider or muzzle break, bayonet lug, threaded barrel, folding stock are all counted as evil features. You can ship to a NY FFL but that FFL can't deliver an AW to the buyer.

thats what I was gathering from the NY state governors web page, it was giving dates for mags but didnt give a date for AW sales so I was figureing that it was in affect now. Im done trying to sale my AR on gun broker, first time it sold and I had a non-paying bidder and im still waiting for my money back from gun broker for that one now im going to have to deal with this one. thanks for the help.

i don't think i would attempt to ship a AR15 to NY at this time given all the nonsense going on with the politicians and liberals in that state. best to err on the side of caution least you get yourself in trouble.

I think any thing says or have the letters ar cannot be sold in ny and nj if I recall
That why they started to rename em to mp-15 to avoid the ar and why would you stoop that low to use the phrase "assault weapon" it a defensive rifle ...

Re: shipping an "assault weapon" to NY state FFL to FFL?
I used assault weapon since thats the classification from NY state of this firearm under there new assault weapon ban. Im done listing this on gun broker now. first time I listed it I ended up with a non paying bidder and now a guy from NY that cant buy it, so far I havnt gotten a reply back from him anyway.I have a balance of 100 bucks in fees that I have to wait 3 weeks each auction to fight with gun broker to get my fees back. only reason I was going to sell it was to put a couple extra bucks in my pocket since Im trying to buy a house. but its not worth it anymore I didnt really want to sale it in the first place but could use the money towards the house. so after all this ill end up keeping it.
