In addition to the "thank you", I would suggest a holster.
Done and done.
Your only real concern is in the event you should "have your numbers run" one day (think traffic stop), the police could give you grief (or worse) because it doesn't return info with your name from the sales database they check.
There's nothing illegal about carrying the handgun, it just confuses them and I don't think they like being confused.

Just like there's no legal requirement to lock the door to your home when you leave, there's no legal requirement to use an FFL to gift or sell a gun between parent and child who both live in Pennsylvania.
However, because there are burglars, and cops who don't understand the Record of Sale Database, I'd advise you to lock your doors, and make sure that your regular carry piece is linked to you on the Database.
