1911 type III malfunction and possible lock up issue
What causes classic Type III malfunction, and what is the proper way to address that?

Re: 1911 type III malfunction
I'll readjust the tension of my extractor and see if that's gonna fix it. Likely going to order new extractor tho.
Also, what do you make of this?
When its in battery, barrel is tipping down...
Is this normal? I mean POI is right at POA. But this does not look right!Audemus jura nostra defendere

Re: 1911 type III malfunction
hmmm i ask because this is a downside to bull barrels but mine is really tight and was surprised when i got it..like doesn't move at all
not sure if this could be a problem because i think bull barrel's typically have a tendency to be loose up front, however, mine is not at all (just an observation, and comparing to my citadel 3.5'')
edit: i am by no means a 1911 expert at all just wanted to take a quick look at my pistola since you asked if it was weirdLast edited by Svickstc; February 26th, 2013 at 08:47 PM.

Re: 1911 type III malfunction and possible lock up issue
I was under the impression this is a downside of bull barrels given that slide to barrel fitment will get worn and possibly effect accuracy and some fitting from the factory has lead to some loose bull barrels (from various companies) and was hesitant at first going the bull barrel route, but it is one of my better shooting 1911's even comapared to my higher end models of 1911's i own..
How many rounds are through the gun, i cant imagine the fitting needing rework already unless it wasnt fitted correctly from the factory...
As far as the "tipped" forward barrel, mine appears to be the same, but my barrel is super tight when locked up (not that i think this would be the FTE issue)
Edit: the barrel may look that way due to the way the angle is cut into bull barrels....theoretically a property fitted bull barrel should be just if not more accurate than a bushing, but bushing is much easier to fix/replace when fitment gets loose, bull on the other hand not so muchLast edited by Svickstc; February 27th, 2013 at 02:25 PM.
