Refugee NYer needs someplace to shoot in pike co.
hello all,
i am being run outof NY by the new UNsafe act.
as a result i am looking for a place to move.....until i can find a permanent home and get all my things in order i have moved my business to Milford Pa. i have rented an office there and will be keeping all my newly illegal firearms safe in Pa.
i will be in the office 2-3 days per week for now. i am in need of a range to shoot at. private or public is fine. i will shoot rifles and handguns (i have a Pa CCW). i think i understand there is magazine limits with regard to ammo.....i would prefer to find a place that does not regulate how many bullets i can have in my firearm....that is why i am leaving NY!!!! BUT beggars can not be choosers. where can i go?
is it possible (legal) to target shoot on state land? federal land? yes, i always pick up after myself and have my own target stands that i bring.
thanks for the help.

closest public range for you is at SGL183 off of Rt6 outside of Hawley. You need either a valid PA hunting license or a range use permit to shoot there. As others will tell you, the condition of the range varies from: eh.....to horrible. 3 round limit in your mags to shoot there, although anyone with working ears can tell that is not followed too closely. Random shooting in state game lands or state forests is not permitted.

Not legal to target shoot on game land or federal land. You have a few options tho. Buy a good size of property, buy a range permit to use the state range on Rt 6 near Hawley or fine a rod and gun club which there are a few up there. Drive south to Monrow county and there is Sunset Hill and Pocono Pistol Club as other options depending on who you talk to for their advice.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Re: Refugee NYer needs someplace to shoot in pike co.
thanks for the info so far.
where do i get the range permit for route 6?
any help with the names of other clubs nearby would be great.
i am building an AR pistol so i am not sure if the "pistol" clubs will be very receptive to that.
too bad about the state land.Refugee from NY.

what business are you in? Its always good to support the local economy esepcially when its a gun guy. But to echo what theyve said as all good options.
easton fish and game is south. ontealeanee is a bit farther south but lets you stretch to 2 or 300 yards.
I do believe that you can target shoot in state forest land as well as long as nothing is in season. ill have to double check on that.
