Confusion on License

I've been told by a lot of people that I dont need the hunters safety course to get my license but a lot of people have also told me that I do. Which is it?

You are required by law to have a hunters safety certificate before you are legally allowed to get your license.

I have also seen people use an old PA back tag, or a hunting license from another state. Also, if you go on the state website you will be able to pull up an affidavit that affirms that you passed the hunter safety course before the records date back to.

It depends on your situation. Age? Have you held a hunting license in another state? recently out of the armed services?

Yes you need to take it unless you were in the armed forces. Its best for you and your fellow hunters out there.

Well, that's very interesting information. When I still lived in Pa, I NEVER took the hunter's safety course... ever.. and had no problems whatsoever getting a license... nor was I ever in the armed forces...

I've heard of places selling people their licenses without asking for the HTE card you get when you complete the course. It's in your best interest to take the course... And every other hunter you may encounter in the field will appreciate it too.

I used to hunt in the 80's, but haven't had a license since. Would I need this also?
