Default Ugly stick to Troll stick

About 99% finished on the t53 that I picked up last week. It was in horrible shape when I got it. I spent the week working on it and my patience has just about run out so I am done. I started out sanding it down and stained it a Jacobbean color. I hated it so I restripped and stained it ebony which I love. I wound up stripping and buffing the exposed metal parts. It was the first time I did this to a gun and learned a lot during the process. The pictures are not the greatest,it looks a lot better in person. I will probably take better ones this weekend. Despite a few mistakes, overall I am happy with the final product.

    and the ugly stick pictures.

Too bad that you still need an SR-71 to take aerial pictures of it to get the whole thing in frame.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

What did you use to remove the bluing? I've read that vinegar works well for it.

    Very nice job.

Nice work. I had a T53 and it was way worse that your stock. Looked like someone tied it behind a truck and drug it for miles.

    Looks sharp!

I did not even think about removing it chemically until after I had started it.

I started with 320 grit sandpaper and I then used a buffing wheel with a black emery polish, then with an extra fine green buffing compound. Took a bit of time but I am happy with the results.
