Cops have a machete gun now? Damnit, I want one too.

Re: cops shoot man with machete
The "machete" is only one small factor.
If you want to base justification on the weapon alone - sure, they were justified. If he were wielding a wiffle ball bat - not so much.
There's a lot of factors that need to be considered before making a judgement call.
Using less lethal means are always an option, but I don't believe it is mandatory to run through all of your non-lethal options before using deadly force. As a matter of fact I KNOW it's not mandatory.
If someone is a threat, you don't HAVE to try tazing them first. It all depends on what is taking place at the time and how it is perceived to the responding officer AT THE TIME.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: cops shoot man with machete
i saw the allentown D.A press conference on the news. he said officers shot the man 3 times with tazers first one missed second hit but due to a thick coat he was wearing it had no effect they then shot him a 3rd time with a tazer as it hit him 2 other officers fired with there guns 7-10 feet away 13 shots. this took him down but he still was resisting..

Re: cops shoot man with machete
All the news posts I have seen make it sound like he was shot for carrying a machete. Considering it is a landscaping tool, I assume carrying a machete is not cause for LE to use lethal force. Yet the local media write it that way.

Oh wow! The media story just gets better. A knucklehead posts this probably trolling on Facebook and a local TV reporter responds. Her last sentence is so bizarre, you have to read it yourself.
Jose Rivera
That's my grandmas boyfriend -__- I knew something was fishy about him. I'm tired of this violence in this city. I saw that machete in his basement about 2 weeks ago picked it up and asked him what it was for but, he changed the subject so I put it back down.

Jose--Would you be willing to talk to us about him? Right now we know so little about who he was. Please email me CHawley@WFMZ.com or call the newsroom at 610-791-1111.
I am sorry for your loss.
