Default A couple new additions to the family

Been a good week here at the Williams household. We've added two more handguns to our inventory. I'm now quite pleased with our fighting and fun shooting handgun inventory.

Picked up a 3 inch barrelled SP101 last night. The 1911 I want to have someday will have to wait a while. This gun was just more practical for our needs. It's an easily carried gun, perfect size for a fishing, hiking, and hunting gun. Being a revolver it can handle snake shot properly. I prefer the 3 inch barrel to the 2 inch barrels for our purposes. It's still very easy to conceal, but the extra barrel length makes for an easier gun to shoot accurately, makes a real difference in muzzle velocity, and makes the gun more pleasant with more powerful loads. It's heavier than some other similar models, but I prefer that also. Given the potential power available when I choose to carry or shoot full power .357s instead of the light loaded ones, the weight and barrel lug make it much easier and more pleasant to shoot and control.

This evening, Cathy picked herself up a spare gun to back up her XD9 Tactical. A VERY nice S&W Model 59. She still likes the Springfield better, but according to her the Model 59 comes close to being as pleasing to her. I actually prefer the Model 59. It's just balanced better. She will have to practice the DA/SA transition, but I never had a problem with it and I'm certain she'll learn it quickly. She bought it from fellow PAFOA board member 625. I'm here to tell you, when that man advertises a gun as "super clean," that's what he means. This gun comes very close to looking brand new. Inside of the barrel looks pristine. As a bonus, I still had an old magazine from a 910 I owned years and years ago, as well as a very nice Safariland holster. This gun I might steal from her from time to time for competitions if I feel the urge to shoot something besides revolvers.

We'll take 'em out and break them in this weekend. Be sure to let ya'll know how they work. In the meantime, a bit of gun porn just for the fun of it.

Congrats on the buys Joe. I had such a hard time letting that 59 go by. I had a pocket full of money right before the Harrisburg show. Good luck with them.

Very nice pick ups there, I never truly got into the revolvers never found one that fit my hand right... maybe someday. I always enjoy hearing people increasing the size of their families.
