Thumbs down Washington State Bill Calls for Sheriff to Inspect the Homes of Assault-Weapon Owners

Forget police drones flying over your house. How about police coming inside, once a year, to have a look around? As Orwellian as that sounds, it isn’t hypothetical. The notion of police home inspections was introduced in a bill last week in Olympia.

I love it. This really wouldn't leave much wiggle room or plausible deniability for the enforcers of the unlawful government.

One of the proposals on the long wish list from NJ is home inspections.

How is that going to get around the 4th A?

    Won't they need a warrant?

Not in obamaville. Communal property and all that.

If they start doing this, invest in body bag manufacturers.

Westchester County NY already does home inspections for pistols. Once for your first pistol and then again after every five pistols added to your permit. Checking for safe storage supposedly.

Assault weapons need to be inspected, but nothing else does? It's ok if someone comes in and steals my concealable handguns, but if they come in and get my 3 foot long black gun, then oh lawdy..

Just as arbitrary as the 7 round or 10 round or 20 round or 500 round restrictions. It's ok if you shoot 7 children, but oh may jesus save us all (and the children!) if you shoot 10 children or 20 children. Arbitrary laws that serve no declared purpose just create new bureaucracy which citizens have to pay for. If there are 10 million (50 million? 100 million? a billion?) assault weapons in the US, and they send 3 people at government rates (what is it these days, counting pension, 100$ an hour?), that's 3B$ a year, if they spend only one hour on-site. Double that if they have to fill out a report afterward, and 10x that if there is a violation. We do not have that kind of money, and I have no interest in donating to that charity.

You will voluntarily submit to the searches as a condition of ownership of a firearm. Therefore there's no 4th A violation.

    Twisted ain't it?
