    Default bad ar jam (pic)

Not sure exactly where to post this. Mods please move if you feel fit. I experienced a new one today. The ammo is Tula and the gun Bushmaster. The round got lodged under the bolt face somehow and I was definately out of the fight. I guess the only "tactical" thing to do would be to transition to sidearm. Pulling the charging handle wasn't doing it. I had to push it as far forward as possible then work it out with a screwdriver. Does anyone know of a faster remedy or cause of this problem? After I cleared it I carried on at the range with no additional malfunctions

24 years of Army infantry and this type of malfunction is about an every day thing on any range. Best tool, A Leatherman!

Again, very normal thing to happen.

    Default M16A1 Carbine jam (pics)

I was told to slam the butt on the ground hard, while pulling back on the charge handle. Was not going to happen with my M16A1. Was worth way to many $$$ then to break something. Got it out with a screw driver. Had to smash the case mouth. http://www.photobucket.com/M16A1

I know what it is, but I have never seen one in person. Not as military nor as civilian. I HAVE seen it a lot with .22s, for obvious reasons, they get up there more easily.

I found this on YouTube. If it ever happens again I'll try it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWuP...e_gdata_player

+1 for my leatherman, but anything that will manually pull the bolt back into the buffer tube can fix that issue.

What about pulling the pins then separating the upper and lower receiver? I could have sworn in the past year at the range someone asked me for help with their AR which had a similar jam and we did just that. I was asked to help with jams a few times so my memory is a bit fuzzy on that one instance.

I tried to seperate the two halves but couldn't with the bolt carrier group stuck at half way. The mag was an older metal twenty rounder.
