    Default Question about overall length

    I was looking at custom fabricating a bullpup rifle based on a ruger 10/22 action with an 18" barrel. The overall length of the rifle would probably end up being 24 or 25 inches. Does anyone know of any length requirements for overall length on rifles (federal or state requirements).

    Minimums: 16" barrel and 26" over-all length.
    Anything shorter requires SBR on an ATF form-1

    Would it be legal to cut my 870 rifled barrel down to 16"?

    negative, shotguns must have a minimum barrel length of 18in. and an OAL of 26"

    that would also be on an NFA form 1 to convert
