Let me first say that I respect your attempts at curbing gun violence in PA. However, I dont see how closing the Florida "loophole" will make things better. I have a Florida permit and I'd like to know how a permit that requires FINGERPRINTS to check if you are a criminal isnt as good as your current background checks ??? If you have people in Philly, that you have arrested 5 times, and never convicted its not a permit carrying person's fault. YOU HAVE A CONVICTION PROBLEM. Tell the DA to do his damn job and you wont have folks who shouldnt get a permit, getting them. I filed for a PA permit and had to appeal to the State Police because my name has other bad men on it. When I got the backround check back, it showed that there were 4 people in the state of PA, with the same name. 3 are currently in prison and the other one is 23 years older than me. All 4 were white males. Wish I could show you a picture, BUT I AM CLEARLY NOT A WHITE MALE !!!! How about you fix PICS first, and then worry about the rest. Real criminals didnt give a rats ass about your laws yesterday, and wont care about the new ones you put on the books tomorrow. Do you really think they are gonna stop because you closed the "loophole" ??? I tell you what, if the murder rate by firearms in Philly, drops by more than 3% in the next year from your new law change, I WILL TURN MY WEAPONS INTO YOU !!!!

Offensive language will not get you support from any political figure, in fact it does just the opposite and almost proves that some of us can't be rational with facts to back an opposite point of view. Intelligently speak your piece by all means, but remain tactful in the approach. We are all frustrated with what is transpiring in our country and somewhat outraged with the way it's being handled, but they were elected by someone. Fight back, but use better judgement in wording to be taken seriously instead of being labeled by the anti side of things. In short, I agree it could have been written and worded better to get your point across.

I have a better idea, if the crime rate in Phila. drops, I will take your guns, this way I can still let you see them once in a while.

I am sure my letter encouraged her. Seriously ?!?! Sorry if I'm not good at speaking the way you would, but thats how I feel, I exercised my right to free speech. Dont like it, too damn bad. And yes, if that crime went down, I would turn them in to her. But it wont. So I will be safe with that bet.

SO what is he to do? Do you think that saying "please let us keep our guns" or "please follow the cosntitution" will work?

I think the apologist or "public image" attitude of many gun owners might cause us to lose them. We need to let them know we have a right and we plan to defend it.

I would rather liberals know taking our guns will result in a fight than think they are just going to have us handing them to them and saying "Thank you sir may I please have another"

I agree. These people are not going to give anyone bonus points for being polite. It emboldens them. They are bullies and bullies are afraid of resistance.

To the OP, thank you. It may have been an approach that is different than some but so what. The point is, you did something. I'm willing to bet that some critics have done nothing. In some cases, doing the wrong thing is worse than doing nothing but I don't think you crossed that line.

I find it fascinating that only ONE FL CCW holder committed a crime in the city and they exploited that incident. He would have been carrying the gun anyway. Had he had a LTCF he would have still been wrong. Pursuing a a person who has damaged your car and shooting them is wrong, no matter what.

They also believe that the FL CCW is easier to procure.
