XDM 40 Loading Mag
Can you point me in the right direction?
I am going to the range for the first time, and need a little guidance in loading the ammo into the mag.
I loaded it and it looks fine but people keep scaring me in regards to a potential jam.
Thanks
George

Re: XDM 40 Loading Mag
Is this your first gun? Is this your first time shooting?
Practice the basic rules:
1. Always assume gun is loaded
2. Always point in safe direction
3. Keep you finger of the trigger unless you plan on shooting/destroying whatever it's pointed to.
4. Know your target and what's beyond it.
Now for loading. For some .40 SW is bit strong, especially for beginners. Try loading 1 or 2 rounds first, so you will know what to expect next on recoil.
Align the sights. practice trigger and breathing control.
I suggest to take some basic pistol class.
Good luck and be safe.

If you are unsure a magazine is loaded right, and don't know what to look for to assure that it is, you really need a class or at least an experienced person with you.

Re: XDM 40 Loading Mag
I do have someone experienced coming with me.
What he showed me this pm is that I loaded it properly.
I was just surprised at how tight the mag was towards the 10th round being loaded.
Thanks for the responses

Re: XDM 40 Loading Mag
Last round is always tight for new magazines... since the spring is still new.
Full mag sometimes also makes it a bit harder to lock/click into pistol.
You can always load one less round until the spring softens.

Glad you have someone going with you.
The magazines on my Springfield XD9SC are an absolute bear to load to full capacity. They are much tighter than some of my other pistols.

Re: XDM 40 Loading Mag
The Springfield XD .40 mags are more difficult to get the last round or two in than most others I own or have used. It isn't anything you are doing wrong.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Re: XDM 40 Loading Mag
Some hi-cap mags can be a bear to load - My 19 round XDM 9mm is not any more fun that your 40 to get the last couple
One of these Uplula Maglula things helps loading alot - think they run like $30
