Re: SBR'd AR15 - a brief guide and my experience
Couple questions:
I am planning on SBR'ing an M92 pistol made in the Zastava factory in Serbia. It was imported to the US by Century Arms Intl. in Georgia, VT. What do I list as the original manufacturer?
Must you include your FULL legal name on the form and engraving? For instance, it's been determined that Johnathan Anthony Doe would NOT be allowed to engrave J. A. Doe or John A. Doe. Would John Doe be acceptable if uniform on both the form and receiver?
Also, is it acceptable to have the firearm engraved in front of the mag well on the lower portion of the receiver? This will not be obscured by anything so it *seems* fine to me...just want clarification before I commit to engraving.

Re: SBR'd AR15 - a brief guide and my experience
Section 4a:
Fill in the original manufacture here.
Zastava Arms
Kragujevac, Serbia
Section 4h:
Fill in the importer information here.
Century Arms Intl. in Georgia, VT
It must be engraved exactly like your name is/will be written on your Form 1 application.
Yes you can engrave in front of the mag well.
I like AKs engraved around the mag well, it is less noticeable. There is plenty of room between the edge of the receiver and the mag well opening.
-Look at the AK from right side/charging handle side.
-Roll the AK 90* away from you so you are looking at the bottom of the receiver and the mag well.
-Engrave First Name Last Name above the mag well
-Engrave City, State below the mag well.Last edited by Nate7667; February 26th, 2013 at 09:05 AM.

Re: SBR'd AR15 - a brief guide and my experience
What are the marking requirements for a trust?
Just "XXX REVOCABLE TRUST" and nothing more correct?
1 - F 5330.20 - Certificate of Compliance With 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B)
Not required for a trust correct?
For I don't recall filling these out when I did my form fours.
2 - F 1 (5320.1) - Application to Make and Register a Firearm
Two copies even for a trust correct?
Last time I submitted anything to the NFA people was back in 2010 and my memory isn't that great. =/

Re: SBR'd AR15 - a brief guide and my experience
Full trust name, no abbreviations as well as city/state
I've read varying accounts, better safe than sorry, if they don't want it they can just file drawer 13 it.
Yes 2 copies, they keep one, they send one back.

Re: SBR'd AR15 - a brief guide and my experience
I'm not well versed in the whole trust thing but my understanding is that it would be the city/state that you are "building" the NFA item in.
I guess it poses the question of when you move do you need to update your trust? If you do that would reflect the same location as the "building" location.
When you move you can sent the BATFE NFA branch a letter indicating the move though generally (as my understanding) that is only done when moving to a different state, I could be wrong though.

Re: SBR'd AR15 - a brief guide and my experience
Am I in trouble? I currently have two complete AR15's I purchased at gun stores, all paperwork, ect was done at time of purchase. I recently ordered online a 11.5" upper reciever which is being shipped UPS to my house. I HAVE NOT filled out any paperwork yet. Once I recieve the 11.5" upper am I in violation of any laws? My intent is to pin this new 11.5" upper to an existing lower for plinking targets. I've read JayBells SBR'd AR15 and other posts but am still confused. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: SBR'd AR15 - a brief guide and my experience
Are you replacing the stock on the existing lower with a pistol buffer tube or are you pinning a 5.5" flash suppressor/comp on the end of the barrel?
Technically having all the parts to assemble a SBR and not having the completed paperwork is 'constructive intent' and is no-no.
If your intent is to leave a stock on a lower you need to get the paperwork done, send it in with your $200 check, wait 6-8 months, and then hopefully recieve your approved stamp in return, then you are GTG.
IANAL
