    Default Diggers-Coal War

Did anyone see the National Geographics show "Diggers"? They were in West Virginia examining Blair Mountain and the Coal War. Pretty interesting, apparently the Government gave the Coal Companies arms, including a few machine guns.

That wouldn't surprise you if you look into the origins of the Pennsylvania State Police. PSP was started to protect mines in Pennsylvania.

Check it out on their museum website. http://www.psp-hemc.org/history/psp.html

Just saying at the time the mining companies ruled. A lot of legislation was created for their benefit and to ensure the continued profits of the owners.

The miners revolt and battle at Blair Mountain was the biggest armed insurrection since the Civil War, yet is barely even remembered. From what I've read, it was essentially the Coal Companies vs. just about everyone else. The Feds actually only got involved to stop the fighting, not support either side.

It would be a Decent show if the diggers didn't act so stupid when they find stuff...running around and climbing trees is a bit much. I found the coal mine war info very interesting, looking like history might repeat itself.

I do as well, need to get more involved in that hobby. The Diggers show has had some interesting spots to excavate. They did one on the Hatfield and McCoy's and another show on the last battle of the Revolution.

I also find the Meteorite Men's show interesting. I'd love to find a nice space rock....
