Serbu Super Shorty
I just picked my new remington 870 shorty last week. Can anyone recommend a good load for it. I plan on just shooting paper targets at my indoor range. Bein a indoor range I guess I need something that won't spread out to much but will make a large hole on the target. I'm not worried about the recoil to much.
Thanks Mike

Re: Serbu Super Shorty
I suggest you check with the range to see what you can shoot there.
I also suggest a Knoxx Breachers grip.
reduces the recoil like 60%, I can shoot 3" mag slugs one handed with no pain in my Mossberg based Serbu Shorty."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: Serbu Super Shorty
What is the difference in the Super Shorty between the Mossberg 500 and the Remington 870. The Remington is a bit higher priced, but what is the benefit?

Re: Serbu Super Shorty
The Remmy 870 is a much better receiver, but due to its design, is harder to chop that's why it costs more.

Re: Serbu Super Shorty
the different models that have been made:
Original Super Shorty 12ga
Mossberg Maverick 88 model
Triggerguard safety
Aluminum Receiver
Plastic trigger group
Mossberg 500(20ga):
tang safety
aluminum receiver
Made by Mossberg
Mossberg 590:
Tang safety
aluminum triggerguard
aluminum receiver
Thicker milspec barrel
Rem 870:
trigger guard safety
aluminum triggerguard
steel receiver
Made by Remington
thats pretty much it, mostly it comes down to personal preference on the Remington or Mossberg.
The higher cost is from the differing cost of the base weapon before conversion.
I probably have 800 shots thru my original SSS, its fine, looks new pretty much."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: Serbu Super Shorty
I had the pleasure of spending today shooting a multitude of firearms, including a Rem 870 based Serbu Shorty. It was fun, and manageable with one hand. But we were only using 2 3/4 low brass. I imagine with 3" mags it could feel different.
