Default Open/Concealed carry in tow trucks

Unfortunatly, christmas eve, my PS return line decided to take a dump again (thank god for AAA plus memberships), so as i'm riding home with the driver of the tow truck, we started talking about guns. He informs me that all AAA authorized personell are forbidden from carrying firearms in their trucks or on their person at all when their on the job. This struck me as odd. Here's a man with a federal gun permit, not allowed to carry at his semi-high risk job. I certainly would not want to be the fool who wanderes into lets say braddock to answer an assistance call without protection or some sorts. Maybe i'm just naive and this is relativly common at jobs but this is one job i would think you would want to be packing a little heat. Discuss...

    It's all about liability.

The cold fact is that if the driver is killed by a criminal, that's an intervening criminal act that the company is probably NOT responsible for, so no lawsuit. Even if there were any liability, it may be pre-empted by workers' comp laws.

If the driver kills a bad guy, or a bystander, then the driver is the agent of the company, and the company has vicarious liability to the deceased's estate.

In other words, the company would rather have the driver killed, than run the risk of him killing a stranger, because it saves the company money.

Every employer that forbids weapons for employees has made that decision. You as an employee are expendable, but criminals can sue.

No such thing as a federal gun permit.

maybe he was a retired cop so can carry under H.R. 218.

we all can carry at an airport, just not on the secure side.
