I think I've seen that warning from BM in every catalog for the last 6 years. I'm not certain, but it's been a few years at least.

Angry Re: A Statement From Bushmaster Regarding Machinegun Parts

Allright, so it's after midnight and I have already read to much BS gov crap, so a rant. So everyone needs to go out and learn by sight every part and it's precise configuration in every gun to detail strip the gun anywhere you happen to be to check to see that a gun that's been around for 30 years has not had a part changed at some point in it's history? Leaving out every other type of gun, how many of you that have AR's stripped them at the gun shop or show and checked every part in it? This is up there with the "A shoestring is a machine gun" crap.

Adding a complete M16 FCG and bolt carrier is still not enough to get it to fire F/A

bushmaster just made that part up to cover their asses......

many current ar's are shipped from the factory w/ "M16" carriers

hell every colt "style" 9mm bolt made in the last 20 yrs is a F/A bolt

same thing. as far as just adding m16 parts is concerned. yes 3rd burst is still illegal since it's F/A.

    What i was saying was:
It still will not be F/A or have a functioning 3rb by just adding M16 parts. an AR15 receiver is lacking one major feature (and most are high shelf as well) that prevents it from accepting the critical part..

can any of you guys suggest some reading material on this subject, on the features of these rifles that make them semi-auto vs. auto? I'd do a search myself, but I'm paranoid of searching the internet for info like this. (Also would like to state to any ATF members or LEOs reading these boards that I am NOT intending to build, purchase, or convert any civilian rifle into an illegal machine gun. I would just like to learn about the differences between the two.)

you can always try Wikipedia.org, they have good articles.

other than that you are looking at some book buying.
