A Seton Hill University student was jailed this morning after he grabbed a Greensburg police officer's Taser gun and shot her with it as she was trying to arrest him for another assault.

Jeremy J. Spisak, 19, of McDonald, Washington County, was arraigned before Greensburg District Judge Jim Albert this morning on charges of aggravated assault, disarming a law enforcement officer, burglary, robbery of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. He was placed in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $250,000.

Accoring to the criminal complaint, Greensburg Officer Regina Depellegrin was responding to a call about Spisak allegedly attempting to stab Christopher Steele at his Concorde Avenue apartment in the city.

After Depellegrin had apprehended Spisak, a scuffle ensued between them.

The suspect attempted to take police cruiser and as Depellegrin tried to stop him with her Taser, Spisak took it from her and shot the weapon into her.

Other officers arrived and were able to subdue Spisak and take him into custody.

As a current student at SetonHill, I have seen many changes occur in the last few years since it became co-ed, sports obsessed, and university status. I started part-time six years ago. At one time, the students had a certain standard, the school had a certain standard, now they just accept anybody. As an older student, I have met many decent younger students during my experience here, however, my general observation of the student body in those six years here has definitely gone down the tiolet. Just my opinion.

    UPDATE

Seton Hill student sentenced for Tasering officer
    Tuesday, June 30, 2009
    The Associated Press

A university student will serve five to 23 months in jail for grabbing a police officer's Taser and shooting her with it while she was trying to arrest him.

Twenty-year-old Jeremy Spisak, of McDonald, was sentenced yesterday after pleading no contest in January to disarming a law enforcement officer and other charges.

Greensburg police say Mr. Spisak took the Taser from Officer Regina Depelligrin when she responded to a reported break-in at Seton Hill University on March 28, 2008. Mr. Spisak was a student school.

Mr. Spisak was arrested when another officer subdued him with his Taser.
