Out-bidding Buybacks
There's a buyback coming up in the area and I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience buying long guns at something like this?
I know this is 100% legal but do police give you a hard time?
Has anyone here ever scored a nice rifle or are all the guns turds?

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
I haven't had any experience in a buy back but would be interested in going there and offering cash. Please let me know the details of the buyback.

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
I am sure the cops will try to bully and harass you into leaving, but if you are on public property while trying to conduct a transaction then there is nothing they can do, technically that is.

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
This just happened in Seattle. Collectors showed up and were buying guns from people waiting in line to turn them in. Cops weren't happy about it but there was nothing they could do.

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
I would guess that the sheep turning in said guns might be very wary of the dude in the van offering more than what the "officials" were paying. Even so, if you got one good deal out of the afternoon it would probably be worth it!

Re: Out-bidding Buybacks
Even if you didn't offer to buy their guns, I still think anyone who lets these people know what they are turning in is doing a great service. I would hate to read about another mint condition fully legal MP-40 ending up in the police's collection.
Also how is it that they can legally purchase firearms, specifically handguns, without a 4473?

Let me know, I'd like to meet up with some members.
I'd think the more people the less likely the cops would harass anyone.
