Default pulled over with gun in the car ...what would you have said

I have gotten two tickets for speeding and both times I have had guns in the car.

The first time was the day before deer season. The cop was pretty nice about the whole situation and asked me to roll the gun over so that he could see it was unloaded. ....END of that encounter

Second time was this summer. I had a rifle in a locked case on my back seat of my my civic. The cop didn't see the gun until he was about to walk back to his cruiser to write me a ticket. He was like "is that a rifle in that case" to which I replied "yes". He promply got all scared and told me "not to make any moves towards the rifle" in a pretty loud and obnoxious tone.

What should i have said to the guy? I mean I really wasn't going to try to pull out the gun case on the side of the road, unlock it, load a few rounds and then try to put one through his front windshield.

What do you think would have happened if I had said something like "officer I don't think that gun is big enough for shooting pigs".

What should i have said to the guy?
"What do you want? I'm in a hurry" works for me.

I would've said "Yes, and it is unloaded"

That won't help any chance you had of a simple encounter.

How about not speeding??? Then there would be no cause to pull you over.

WRONG! I have been pulled over for "looking suspicious" because my car was two different colors.
    Everyone should have an AK-47

Well in his case he was pulled over for speeding, not his car being 2 different colors. I've also been pulled over for driving to slow.

    Do you have a LTCF?

If you are referring to him only seeing a rifle case, only answer if asked a question if it is pertinent to your situation.

I would not have said anything. You are not required to explain yourself, give a long explanation or put the officer at ease. He should be doing his job which is giving you a ticket for speeding, not giving you grief about something that did not have anything to do with the stop.

Him being loud and obnoxious does not mean you have to respond in kind. It also does not mean you have to start bending over for him which is where the silence comes in.

Being better than him says more than taking yourself down to a level where you respond "officer I don't think that gun is big enough for shooting pigs". IMO

You were speeding and that is all the stop should have been about He should not have made it about anything else and neither should you.
