Has anyone called/written to Weaknecht yet?
I e-mailed him yesterday urging him to protect our 2A rights. I know he's very pro-gun, as shown by his mobile LTCF app stations every month, among various other pro-gun things he does for the county. Just wondering if anyone else has tried contacting him?

Re: Has anyone called/written to Weaknecht yet?
Weaknecht does not want to see assault rifles or large-capacity clips outlawed.
"I don't think it's fair to penalize law-abiding people for the actions of a few," he said. "I don't think that would solve everything."
Weaknecht said he would rather see the courts give stiffer sentences to those who violate existing laws.
Sheriff Eric J. Weaknecht, for instance, said he does not want to see assault rifles or large capacity clips outlawed. That wouldn't reduce violent crime, since criminals typically buy guns illegally on the streets, not from licensed sellers, he said.Obama referred to keeping "weapons of war" off the streets, but Weaknecht said it wasn't fair to penalize law-abiding citizens for the actions of a few.
There are enough gun laws already on the books, he said, but they need to be better enforced, and violators should be more harshly punished.
Weaknecht spoke of the killing of Deputy Sheriff Kyle Pagerly, who was shot with an AK-47 assault rifle on June 29, 2011, by Matthew Connor, whom Pagerly was trying to arrest.
The problem wasn't that the gun was legally sold, but that it was illegally given to Connor, Weaknecht said.
"If the person who owned that gun was responsible, no one else would have had it," he said. "We should not restrict them (assault rifles); we should have more responsible gun ownership."
Weaknecht said he supported Obama's proposal for background checks on all gun buyers, something already done in Pennsylvania on all but long rifle sales.
