    Default Glock 26 baseplate nightmare

I am hoping someone can help me. I have brand new glock 26 magazines that I was trying to put Pearce +3 grip extenders on. For the life of me I cannot get the original baseplates off. They are brand new and have never been used so they are very stiff and resistant to me tampering with it. They have notches on either side, they say to squeeze and pull but they aren't budging. I tried pliers as well still NOTHING!

Anyone ever been down this road before? I'm to the point I'd rather pay someone to do it than fiddle with it a minute longer, but my town isn't exactly packed with gunsmiths on everyblock or even in a 100 mile radius for that matter lol.

I happen to have a new 26, too. Was thinking about a grip extender. I'll have to check back to see what you figured out.

p.s. No gunsmith within 100 miles of Ridley? WTF?!

I was exaggerating I'm not sure but I've never seen one around. Yeah let me know how it works out if you do get them.

There is a tool you can buy that is supposed to make it easier to disassemble.

I have never used one so I can't comment on their effectiveness.

I usually insert a punch into the baseplate. Insert the punch, squeeze a little on the sides and use the punch as leverage to slide baseplate off. Be careful spring is under some tension.

    Yup.

Punch in the hole in the bottom of the mag. Use the same hand holding the punches thumb. Place thumb on the front of the magazine. Simultaneously pull towards you with the punch, while pushing against the mag to restrain it with your thumb.

It will come off with a little pop, then you can ease it the rest of the way off so as not to launch springs, followers and other bits into low orbit.

The way I found to do it is very easy, and doesn't require a death grip and 3 hands LOL.

I use a small C clamp. Put it down at the bottom as close to the notches as possible and slowly/carefully tighten it up a little at at a time, just enough to allow the base plate to start sliding off while depressing the post in the hole with a punch and prying/pulling forward.

The method described using the Glock armorer's tool, which is nothing more than a punch.

As you have brand new magazines, you may have more difficulty than the man in the video.
