someplace to shoot in Tamaqua
looking for recomendations for any shooting ranges/ gun clubs in or around the Tamaqua area (bout 30 miles northeast fo Allentown on rte 309). also have several shooting friends from out of the area that I shoot with couple times a year so I would like to find a club that allows you to bring a guest every once in a while... Any help is appreciated

Re: someplace to shoot in Tamaqua
Your not to far from the Hawk mountain State Game land range. Go west on 895 through New Ringold. Watch for the Hawk Mountain Sign on the left before you get to Rt. 61. Turn left at the sign and go up and over Hawk Mountain. You'll see the rifle range signs on the right side of the road near the bottom of the mountain. Wco patrols there so remember you need a permit or a hunting Lic. and don't forget the 3 round in the magazine rule.

There is a club on Clamtown Rd in West Penn Township just off 309. I have never been there but I see it all the time on my way to and from Cabelas.
Let us hope for the best, but let us also prepare for the worst.

Re: someplace to shoot in Tamaqua
thanks for the input, heard rumors about an indoor range over in Pottsville where you could rent guns to try them out first. Can't find it, don't know the name. Just wondered if anybody from over that way knows anything.

Moss Glen Rod and Gun Club located in Brockton (6 miles west of Tamaqua on just off 209). I believe membership is required. There is (was) usually someone on site that can give you info about joining the club. I moved out of Brockton about 10 years back and believe that not much has changed about use of the range. Great place to shoot!

There had been an indoor range about 25 + yeas ago across from Wendy's but it closed, turned into Eyeland, and now something else. I dont know of any other indoor ranges in the area, but if you find one let me know!!!

Guthsville R&G is down 309 and 100. Not too far from Tamaqua. I am a member there and I live east of Tamaqua. They do allow guests.

Re: someplace to shoot in Tamaqua
Guthsville now charges $10 per guest per visit. It might be cheaper to join a club closer to home.
