    I thought the whole point of the XDS was that it was a compact .45 caliber...

    I will admit that my brother in law has one and just the feel of the gun is great, I'm a little suprised they came out with an XDS 9mm when they could have just upgraded their compact XDM but Im not saying I wouldnt be interested in one....

    No, the whole point of the XDs was to have a single stack pistol for better concealment. They built the .45 first becasuse they learned from the past where they started with the 9/40 and then had to make changes to fit the .45. This time they decided to start with the biggest round and then adapt that frame to the smaller calibers.
