I chose other becuase my 280 rem has never left me down from 20 yards out to 200 often with dramatic effects. Of the calibers listed I had used the 308 for years and it worked well for me as well.

I like the .243 if your talking strictly PA whitetail hunting. Had 8 bucks out of the last 11 years. Never had to track one. Use cheap 90 gr core lokt.
Alot of the bigger calibers (30-06) just seem to heavy and go right thru. Chased alot of deer shot with 30-06. I only go for clean shots, have hit the brisket or the ribs every time. .243 is light enough to dump energy without hitting alot of bone. Lots of organ trauma, Used to use 30-06 and even 338...not as much trauma, just a hole.

7mm rem mag with 140gr nosler ballistic tips, killed my first deer at 300yds spined her thought I missed. (M77 Ruger top tang prettied up by RW Hart)

    Next is a Interarms mark x in 308 win shooting nosler 165 bt's or 168 amax's.

This year I got a button buck at 315yds hit low and a lil left, gutted and dropped on impact with a basketball suzed hole.

And my 223rem shooting 60gr partitons is very impressive out to 150yds
