Re: Current top 5 cds
hard to narrow the my favorite albums of all time to 5, but i would go with:
1. daydream nation by sonic youth
2. master of puppets by metallica
3. dirty by sonic youth
4. bleach by nirvana
5. the bends by radiohead
honorable mentions to:
independent worm saloon by butthole surfers
(imho, butthole surfers share the title of best band ever with sonic youth, but they never really packaged it all into one "blow-me-away" album)
somewhere between heaven and hell by social distortion
let it be by the replacements
ride the lightning by metallica
the original van halen album
purple rain by prince
appetite for destruction by guns n roses
live after death by iron maiden
sgt peppers lonely hearts club band by the beatles
warehouse: songs and stories by husker du
OK computer by radiohead
the wall by pink floyd
synchronicity by the police
nevermind by nirvana
the velvet underground and nico by the velvet underground and nico
dookie by green day
garbage by garbage
i'm sure i'm forgetting some other great albums.
(this is leaving out all the local ones...like krakatoa by the b3s...and the johnsons big band...etc.)
here are 3 more i can't believe i forgot...they all nearly make the top 5 list.
blood sugar sex magik by the red hot chili peppers
ritual de la habitual by jane's addiction
pretty hate machine by nine inch nailsLast edited by LittleRedToyota; March 24th, 2008 at 03:18 PM.

Re: Current top 5 cds
I can't just narrow it down to a top 5.
I like all genres, but people who know me would say I'm a metalhead.
My all time favorite artist is Stevie Ray Vaughan...timeless.
I was really pissed when his brother sold out his music for a fucking Nissan commercial.
Let me think about this and see if I can narrow it down to a top 5.

Re: Current top 5 cds
I'll agree with you that listing 5 of each was a stupid thing on my part....so here's my tens.
All time (most influential, etc)
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
In Flames - The Jester Race
Immortal - At The Heart Of Winter
Death - Symbolic
Carcass - Heartwork
Judas Priest - Painkiller
The Crown - Crowned In Terror
Current
Watain - Sworn to the Dark
Funeral Mist - Salvation
Vreid - I Krig
Aura Noir - The Merciless
Darkthrone - The Cult Is Alive
Defleshed - Fast Forward
Azaghal - Omega
Marduk - Rom 5:12
Dissection - Reinkaos
Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal
Current Honorable mentions include the whole catalog from Explosions In the Sky and Mogwai (good music for sitting alone with a beer and feeling sorry for yourself), Public Enemy - It takes a nation of millions...(I rarely listen to rap, but for some reason this is killing me recently).
Awesome choices everyone!
PS I love the fact that someone on a gun board (Arcana) listed The Cure and the Smithereens on their top 5. Let's destroy stereotypes hahah.Pittsburgh, PA

Re: Current top 5 cds
Still can't narrow it down to albums but here are the bands,
Integrity
Earth Crisis
Snapcase
Irate
Billy club sandwich
OK, some bands you might have heard of...
Pantera
Megadeth
Anthrax
Black Flag
Suicidal Tendencies
Sepultura
Metallica (anything that predates the black album)
The list goes on but you get the idea.
I'm dating myself with this list...all of a sudden I feel old.
