Default Anyone else sick of this "It will never happen" attitude?

Just a rant from someone who believes being prepared and proactive is the right choice. The only right choice. Even if there is a very small chance of what you're preparing for actually happening. Just like anything else in life, you can go overboard and take any one area or idea too far; however, I'm simply talking about being proactive instead of being retroactive.

I'm just surprised, and disappointed, with the amount of people I have been conversing with lately that simply have no concern at all about what is happening in our country. I'm not just talking about firearm legislation mind you, but things like NDAA, Obama's Healthcare reform, etc. They have this attitude and catch phrases that roughly goes along the line of this: "They tried to do that before, but it got shot down. That will never fly with the American people." Or "I wouldn't worry about that any time soon." Or my favorite: "Congress would never let that happen."

Why would anyone in their right mind take that approach? If I was playing poker and I had a Royal Flush, would I tell everyone at the table that I had such a hand and warned them what I was about to do? The chances are very low that I would have that hand, so the rest of the table should never worry about that happening right? They should take no precautions whatsoever for me having that hand then right? I mean, this is really what people are conveying to me recently. If I was the person holding a Royal Flush, I would want everyone else at that table to believe that I had nothing. I would want them to believe that there was no way I could ever accomplish that, and that they should all go on as freely with their game as before with not a second thought to my hand. In fact, I would even try to subtly suggest to them that they had me beat; that they should be even more comfortable than they were before. Right? And this is poker we're talking about here; a simple game that even children can play! But are we naive enough to think politicians aren't smart enough to act like this in Congress, the White House, etc?

The people incompetent and complacent enough to take that mindset and embrace it are not few and far in-between anymore. They are rampant. They are your neighbor, your brother, your cousin, your friend. In 2013, we are so conditioned to comfort and luxury in America that we forget that tyranny and evil exist. Sure when someone in Connecticut murders a classroom of children, we remember. And then we have all the misguided people and politicians with twisted agendas pointing us in the direction we should focus our anger. They point the finger at the guns. They point the finger at the laws. They point the finger at the failures of the people in the shooter's lives. They point the finger at the drugs. But no one points the finger at evil. As if the guns shot themselves or the drugs got up and ran into the shooter's mouths. Meanwhile evil sits in the corner plotting its next move without ever being glanced at.

When are these people going to realize that all the “it will never happen” scenarios already happened if we don’t prepare for it? When you’ve allowed Congress and the White House to reveal their Royal Flush, I sincerely and honestly hope that you are not the fool with all your chips in the pot and a gun to your head.

As I've posted before, I believe it will pass. Furthermore, I have no faith in the legal system, therefore, the future of firearms.

Too many actors and news anchors are openly opposing guns and even the second amendment itself. My fear is that that is all the sheeple need to fall in line.

The Republic is dead. We are already headed towards socialism, and eventually, something worse...

It's the normalcy bias. For experts on this, ask the Jews leading up to the holocaust.

I hear ya brah, yep we are in the final phase of the new world ordel police state, the only thing left is the removal of the 270,000,000 guns in private hands, particulary the light , fast shooting ones, e.g AR's AK's etc.

I was tired of hearing about before the 2008 election.

But Obama promises not to do anything about your guns

    followed by:

what has Obama done to make you think he wants to take your guns away...

despite being on record for well over a decade that he opposes civilian gun ownership...

    Now its:

nothing will pass, they dont have the votes..

    or

nothing will pass, Americans have a short memory..

yep,.......I can remember all the dems arguing with me before the election about what lies ahead if he is elected, concerning gun rights,...and all I heard was "you are crazy,...he has done more FOR gun owners than against!" Talking about the carry in parks and such!
Now they are eating their own words!
I have been ranting to everyone I know, including family, about how we need to become active.on the offensive also,......and I sadly get the same feeling,....that they agree,......but shrug it off and thing that it will not happen. Not in America!.....It is so frustrating!

The antis are pushing with everything they got!....we need to do the same...........AND F#CKING FAST!!

I keep trying to do my best, writing and calling,....but if this passes, God help us!,.....I have a bad feeling this will not be pretty!.....
I am almost thinking of making a preemptive move to TX or AZ where they have made moves in the State Legislature to oppose any of this crap andget myself situated before the likeminded masses flood there!...lol

I am sick of gun owners who have already thrown in the towel to this.
The USA is now a banana republic. Only without the bananas....or the Republic.

We need to fight with all we are & all we have to overcome this if it's going to be possible to do so. To surrender is not an option
