I don't know what NRAIS1 is, but it doesn't look like a news piece, it looks like a propaganda piece. The cue: gun homicides didn't go up 21% after the seizure program. I don't know about the rest of the stats quoted.

A note about Australia: Their homicide rate was much lower than ours all along, just like UK's (figures, as they're a Commonwealth nation). Their homicide rate was already falling before their confiscation program. Now, several years after the government 'got the guns off the street,' the homicide rate is not significantly lower than without the ban. It is higher than it was in the 60s & 70s, just like UK. Gun laws don't reduce homicide rates. You will never find an anti that can cite real statistics showing otherwise. Just naked, unsupported claims that fall apart upon close inspection.

Firearm homicide might have increased around the time of the gun laws because of the Port Arthur massacre, however it hasn't turned into Mad Max.
