Re: Handgun Training
Excel.
The majority of my training courses have been through the FireInstitute with a smattering of John Farnam and a gentleman who instructed for the US Marshalls service. This is not including the NRA instructors training classes.
The FireInstitute just happens to be headed up by a lawyer who signs up all the students. Information from him is "good" info.. He also instructs various courses.
Make a point of coming to the Burgh for a little training sometime.
I believe their 2007 training class schedule is complete although I'm not sure if it's up on their website yet.

Re: Handgun Training
I am thinking of taking a Insights Training out in Harrisburg in the Spring. It would be level II type defensive pistol class. How are these folks?

Re: Handgun Training
Insights is good training when Greg is teaching. The guy teaching this class is a tool.
I'm teaching at the same place, the same weekend (last weekend of april) - if you like, take our course - if you don't learn things that you didn't know that you didn't know and/or aren't completely satisfied, I'll give you your money back.
We're Friday-Sat-Sun, while Insights is just Sat-Sun.Steve

Re: Handgun Training
Would love to find a course for my wife and I to take.
FireInstitute
http://www.fireinstitute.org/
(Looks good, sadly is too far away.)
Firearms Research & Instruction
http://www.f-r-i.com/
(The PDF article looked good. The website is so sub-par. Really, if you're charging a few hundred a course. You could put a little bit of that into a website. While the course might be superb, the site does not convey such.)
ACSHA
http://www.acsha.com/
(Well, last week appears to have been the last basic pistol course for 2008. Have to wait until 2009...)
