Also be aware that any KE Arms merch purchase from KE Arms or Brownell's goes to help KE Arms in their legal fight with GWACS. So every penny helps. Buying directly puts more money in KE Arms' coffers, but they take forever to ship. My last lower took over a month, but I didn't mind because I bought it to help them, not for a build. Brownell's ships faster, and they will buy from KE when their inventory is low, but KE Arms doesn't make as much money.

No. Not a transfer - it's Brownell's "add on" fee to any gun purchase.
They call it a "FFL Processing Fee".
It's a sneaky, dickish thing, but even with that, these lowers are a great deal.

If I were to build a basic lower and add a Magpul grip and stock, and buy the buffer tube and end plate, and castle nut, I'm looking at $130 - and it wouldn'y be a lightweight lower - these KE Arms lowers are about a pound lighter.
Getting "all of that" for $90 (after $10 fee) is a great deal.

FFL transfer will cost me $25
(I can't find anyone local on their list that's still $20)
I haven't needed to use an FFL in probably 7 years or more - I buy my long guns FTF when possible.
The chances of finding a private seller with one of these is slim to none, so I'm willing to suck it up and break my rule about not buying where I need an FFL transfer.

Fuck conversions. Build a dedicated 22LR AR15!
I started out years ago with a 22 dedicated upper (.22LR barrel) and just swapped out my 5.56 upper to shoot it.

That got old quick.
And holy fuck - a few range trips with the 22 upper and the internals (trigger group) of my lower had more CRUD all over than they did in a year of shooting 5.56. Time to build a dedicated lower for THAT bitch!
