When 308s got down to around $700 I wish I had gotten one, but I never have that much money available to just "buy a $700 gun".
Those were just the basic "M4 style", so this one has more value in the handguard and stock.
Seems potentially "fair" in today's market, but I don't follow 308s closely, so I may be wrong.

You and I think alike. But this one does come with a Geissele SSA-E trigger, though. That trigger alone accounts for about $200 in its price.

Whenever possible, I recommend looking for complete uppers and complete (or stripped) lowers from PSA rather than assembled rifles to minimize the amount of federal excise tax you are paying.

As I understand it, the 11% federal excise tax on firearms applies to any item considered to be a firearm or receiver. (The tax is 10% on pistols or revolvers.)

So if you buy a rifle for $1000, you end up paying $110 in tax. If you buy the rifle as a complete lower + a complete upper, then the tax applies only to the value of the lower assembly (i.e. something like $36 tax on a $330 complete lower).

The tax is owed by the manufacturer, not by you, but if you look closely, they often pass along this tax to the consumer with higher prices on complete rifles. The only thing you have to remember is that a complete rifle will also include a magazine, but a lower + upper won't.

If you don't want to have to assemble the lower, then the complete lower is just about as convenient as buying the complete rifle assembled. Just pop two pins and save yourself 11% tax on the upper.
