Damn if only their 7" 9mm upper was not heavy barrel. That's not a build I want to add weight to.

Most 9mm and 7.62x39 barrels are of the heavy variety.
I got very lucky when I got my x39 barrel from PSA in a "M4 style", so it's lighter than the average x39 carbine barrel.
9mm barrels can be found with a similar cut. I would also look for that vs a heavy barrel.
I have a 5.56 7.5" pistol with a heavy barrel, and it's pretty noticeable compared to a similar, short, M4 style cut barrel.
